Abiding in the Vine Family Life Ministries, Inc. (ABIV) was incorporated in the State of Virginia in September of 1998 by Founder and President Barbara A. Ward.
It has existed as a non-profit organization (501c3) through the IRS since November 2000. It is designed to be an outreach ministry to serve as a resource to promote healing and restoration to churches, communities, and the nations.
Abiding in the Vine is scripturally founded upon John 15:5
“I am the Vine, You are the branches; he who abides in me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (NASB)
Abiding in the Vine was birthed in my heart many years ago. I believe that the Body of Christ must remain firmly rooted and grounded in Christ Jesus in order to see fruitfulness in our lives and others. Apostle Paul’s desire was to see remaining fruit in his life. Consequently, Abiding in the Vine seeks to see lasting fruit come forth by the Power of the Holy Spirit through witnessing transformed lives. Founder Barbara Ward believes that there is a divine purpose for all lives. She is committed in seeing purpose revealed in lives of this generation and generations to come.

Abiding in the Vine Family Life Ministries, Inc. (ABIV) was founded in September, 1998 as a non-profit ministry by Barbara A. Ward. Barbara is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Virginia with 30+ years of experience in mental health. She is currently on staff at Genesis Counseling Center located in Hampton, Virginia.
Barbara is an ordained minister of the Gospel and has served in many leadership positions in local assemblies including developing and initiating many Christian Programs. She currently serves as an Elder at Kingdom Living Ministries in Newport News, Virginia with Pastors Ronald and Vanessa Battle. Barbara completed a Master’s of Divinity Degree at Regent University and Life Coaching Program in 2005. She has served as past Chairperson, Pregnancy Crisis Program and has served as a Mentoring Coach and Training Coordinator for families at risk in the local community sponsored by Operation Breaking Through with a focus on parenting and healthy lifestyles. My heart is to see the lives of Individuals and families healed and restored to usefulness in the Kingdom of God.
Provide ministry opportunities to empower individuals and families to achieve a healthy lifestyle through emotional healing and spiritual well-being. Our passion is to see lives transformed by the Power of God to fulfill purpose and destiny.
This ministry is designed to serve as a resource to the Body of Christ, Community at Large and the Nation. We seek to equip and empower people through teaching materials, ministry, and tools to promote healing, restoration and wholeness.
The mandate for our work comes from Isaiah 58:12:
“Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”
